Chaos in preparation for our little bundle

We are preparing for a bundle of joy to join us in less than a month. We have boxes of baby stuff stacked in the living room and we're boxing up some of our stuff to make room in our small apartment. Meanwhile the apartment is in chaos and on some level upsetting to my COH soul. I have been told by the doc not to move furniture or lift anything over like 10lbs. Very frustrating.

I just stumbled across your blog as I was searching for help/advice/support/anything to help me cope with my hoarding parents as I am expecting my first child in January. I feel your pain so much regarding the accumulation of “baby stuff” in my small apartment. It strikes a deep chord in my soul and I know that has to do with my upbringing as a child of hoarders.

I keep reminding myself that this is a transitional phase, and eventually we’ll figure out what’s necessary & where things need to “live.” But the terror of the idea that maybe “this is how it all starts” doesn’t really go away.
I am very glad you have found my blog. There are several Children of Hoarders (COH) blogs out there as well as the Children of Hoarders group on yahoo (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/childrenofhoarders/), which has been an immense help to me. I really recommend you join the group. It's not about fixing our hoarders, but about us as COHers. I've posted the other COH blog addresses previously, but am pasting them below as well. The important thing to remember is we cannot fix our hoarders, we can only fix ourselves and however crazy things have been, you are not alone. Also the baby chaos is truly a transitional phase, just take a deep breath, have a piece of chocolate and break down your tasks into bite sized pieces.
